What Must Humans Remain Responsible For?
Capability asks what AI can perform. Responsibility asks what humans should continue to understand, decide, verify, govern, and own.
Automate capability freely. Delegate responsibility deliberately.
Human presence is not the same as human governance. Meaningful oversight requires authority, expertise, evidence, an opportunity to intervene, and accountability for the outcome.
Accountability without the capability to judge is governance in name only.
As AI performs more routine cognitive work, organizations may reduce some forms of routine expertise while increasing the importance of deep expertise for verification, exceptions, judgment, escalation, and accountability.
The future-ready employee should not be defined by the ability to compete with AI at every task. The more important question is what responsibilities humans must continue to own as AI capability increases.
